The National Nature Monument Demänovská Cave in the norhern part of The Low Tatra Mountains is the longest cave system in Slovakia.

Dominant Demänovská jaskyňa slobody – Demänovská Cave of Freedom,  attracts the visitors with its rich sinter formations of various colouring, mystic uderground flow Demänovka and magic lakes. It is most frequently  visited cave open to public in Slovakia. Demänovská Cave of Freedom – unbelievable abundance of colours and shapes of sinter formations, unique sinter lilies and other lake forms of sinter filling.

Demänovská ľadová jaskyňa - Demänovská Ice Cave - the entrance to the cave is in the cliff Bašta, on the northern  side of the Low Tatra Mountains, only two kilometers to the north from Demänovská Cave of Freedom. Ice filling has been formed for about 500 years and in combination with sinter adornment it creates compelling sightseeing route. Demänovská Ice Cave represents northern part of the well-known Demänovská Cave System. It is unique for being spectacularly decorated with permanent ice filling, for its bizarre and gigantic shapes of underground space, precious cave fauna and rich history.

Note:
 

  • Admission every 1 hour from 09.00am, the last one at 4.00pm
  • Caves are closed on Mondays
  • Only Demänovská Cave of Freedom is open in winter months
  • Demänovská Ice Cave is closed to 15th May 2011
